Public Works Solid Waste Division Operator

Public Works Solid Waste Division Operator, City of Norfolk.

Must have a valid Class A CDL license, and clean driving record, for the ability to haul a loaded trailer to the landfill. Must be able to pass SWANNA training. Must have good mechanical ability. Participates in the weighing, inspection, compacting, loading, and hauling of solid waste for landfill disposal, and operates all phases of the Transfer Station process. Must be agile enough to use a ladder and enter semi-trailers to sweep them out. Must be able to learn to operate and maintain trucks, trailers, and associated Transfer Station and wastewater related equipment. Maintains site and assist customers in areas such as compost, household hazardous waste, and trees and unloading customer trash. The scheduled work rotation includes Saturday work approximately twice per month. Bilingual skills are a plus. Salary range is $4,046 - $5,544 per month.
