Storage Yard and Warehouse Material Handler
A privately owned family company in business for over 45 years seeking a person experienced in the field of warehouse and storage yard material handler at our Eastover (Columbia) South Carolina location. The Eastover location’s main activity is the storage, preparation and shipment of the machinery the company purchases and inventories to be resold to its global customer base. The company is active primarily in the chemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, fertilizer and other basic processing industries. The company has 14 offices located around the globe.
Position Purpose/Core Responsibilities:
This Material Handler position will ensure the proper and safe handling, loading and unloading of equipment, onto and off of transport trucks prior to being placed into storage. This also includes the loading of equipment for customer sale. This position will require the proper use and selection of mobile equipment (Forklifts and/or Cranes), lifting equipment (including rigging, straps, chains, cables, shackles) and dunnage which is a critical part of the movement of equipment around the facility. The material handler will be responsible for the proper storage of equipment into a specific location, documenting the location and preparing the equipment for short- or long-term storage. The material handler is responsible for his or her actions that help accomplish the facilities daily activity goals. In promoting a culture of safety and positive employee relations, the material handler ensures that all processes, quality and best practices, of every type are achieved in meeting the expectations of our customers, vendors, and co-workers. Candidate must have significant operating experience on forklifts ranging in size from 4,000 lbs. to 40,000 lbs. or other similar size forklifts. Mobile Crane, Overhead Crane and Telehandler experience is a plus, but not required. For career advancement, the successful candidate may be trained in the operation of all terrain and rough terrain hydraulic cranes.
