Corrections Officer II

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is presently taking applications for the position of Corrections Officer II (Door Control) for which we currently have open positions and to establish an eligibility list, for future positions.

The Corrections Officer II position is located in a secure environment. Your responsibilities will mainly include opening and closing secure doors in the jail, to maintain inmate control. Maintaining computer logs of events that are occurring in daily operations and visual observation of inmates.

Qualifications will include:

1. Minimum age of 19 years at time of hiring.

2. Physical requirements include weight proportioned to height; vision 20/100 uncorrected, corrected to 20/20; normal depth perception; no color blindness; hearing must be normal in frequencies of normal voice range.

3. High School graduate or have completed an equivalent course of education.

4. Must not have been convicted of a felony or convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude and must not have demonstrated a disregard of the law to such an extent that usefulness as a Corrections Officer would be impaired.

5. Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.

6. Must have basic computer experience.

7. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Starting salary is $33,196.80 per year. Currently maximum salary is $41,579.20 per year after four years.
