An incumbent in this position will follow general standardized operating policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School diploma or equivalent Credentials: Valid commercial Oklahoma driver's license (CDL) preferred. Acceptable driving record required. Obtain Applicator's Certificate for use of chemicals within first year of employment. Special Knowledge, Skill or Ability * Must have mental requirement to understand and follow instructions and avoid safety problems such as chemical application, flying rocks, working with and next to sharp saws, blades, etc. * Ability to use basic addition and subtraction in performance of job * Ability to read and interpret routine written or printed materials such as labels on chemicals (mix chemicals), basic charts, diagrams, or instruction material for equipment * Satisfactory personal conduct and integrity * Ability to work well with others * Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Strengthens relationships by developing students and clients and staff, partnering with businesses and schools and collaborating with community leaders through participating in school or community activities. 2. Focuses on being a leader within the organization through personal accountability, active problem solving and positive forward thinking. 3. Focuses on continual improvement to assure quality products and excellent services to our customers and stakeholders. 4. Mows, edges, trims grass, trims trees and shrubs. Plants, grass, shrubs, trees and flowers et 5. Waters, fertilizes, sprays for weeds, etc. and performs other landscaping/dirt work as needed. 6. Cleans curbs, driveways, and sidewalks and ponds. 7. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Reports any damages to supervisor. 8. Empties trash cans and picks up litter as needed. Performs periodic clean up of all school sites. 9. Performs parking lot maintenance and snow removal. 10. May perform other custodial/maintenance duties as needed. 11. Maintain flowerbeds year round. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions- Lift Test Required * Ability to stand/walk approximately 8 hours daily depending on the weather * Requires occasional to frequent bending/stooping; squatting/crouching; occasional crawling/kneeling; climbing (height 8-feet ladder); occasional reaching above shoulder; and pushing/pulling * Occasional lifting 50-75 pounds to handle fertilizer bags, and maneuver lawn equipment * Requires employee to use both feet for repetitive movements as in operating foot controls * Requires employee to use both hands for such repetitive actions requiring simple/firm grasping and/or fine manipulation * Possesses manual dexterity/visual ability to operate vehicle and grounds equipment, to see area to be mowed, sodded and sprayed etc * Possesses hearing/speaking ability to communicate with fellow workers and the students/public. Must be able to do job safely and efficiently * Must be able to work in outdoors with temperature changes; operating motorized equipment; and exposure to toxic chemicals, dust, fumes, etc. * This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodations will be made as needed Experience: One-year related work experience.
