Web Designer - Marketing Department
St. Catherine University and the Marketing Department invite applications for a Web Designer.
Marketing at St. Catherine University is undergoing exciting changes. Your first project will be a website design update! Our team consists of digital-first marketing professionals who focus on value-propositions and intuitive design that has meaning to our student segments. You will create a best-in-class user experience and digital environment for www.stkate.edu and will have a mobile-first attitude, continually enhancing the prospective student experience on our site. Creating dynamic pages that engage users and generate and support conversion to enrollment is the primary focus of your role.
Responsibilities include:
- Partner with Marketing Director and other team members from Admission to set the vision and strategy with a focus on design and user experience for the website as a content marketing tool with the primary focus on supporting lead generation and conversion to support enrollment objectives, ensuring that content is inclusive of our diverse student population.
- Partner with IT to ensure our digital presence meets the needs of the user and the University, and aligns with marketing needs, University goals, and industry best practices.
- Leads implementation of SEO best practices and collaborates with Marketing, IT, and agency partners to implement, if needed.
- Partner with Marketing team members to post and optimize content on the site.
- Integrate website tracking and analytics into digital lead campaigns, digital advertising campaigns, social media, email campaigns and other campaigns and University initiatives to ensure evaluation for ROI , including measuring success in attracting interest from diverse candidates.
- Identify new content opportunities and oversee the development of new content to optimize the user experience, SEO , and admissions lead generation.
- Together with the Content Manager, develop website metrics. Report on analytics monthly and utilize for ongoing improvements.
- Partner with IT to provide ongoing website maintenance and enhancements.
- Use a combination of markup languages to create web pages.
- Write functional requirement documents and specifications.
- Create quality mockups and prototypes for new pages on tight timelines.
- Assist back-end developers (IT) with coding and troubleshooting.
- Lead design of cascading style sheets ( CSS ) that are consistent across all browsers and platforms, and University brand guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
- Three-years experience with CSS, HTML, JavaScript and jQuery
- Three years utilizing Drupal as well as software programs like the Adobe Creative Suite
- Two-years' experience improving web analytics via search engine optimization ( SEO )
- Two-years' experience managing a website leveraging inbound marketing strategies
- Understanding of web usability and information architecture
- Current knowledge of digital marketing industry trends
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the best practices in web development process, including design, development and deployment, with some back-end knowledge
- Experience with responsive and adaptive design
- Associates degree in web design, communications, marketing, English or related field
