The Facilities Services Department at Union College is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and team oriented individual to fill the position of Licensed Plumber at our Schenectady, NY campus.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and two years of technical trade school in the appropriate field or the completion of a 5 year apprenticeship program, plus a minimum of 5 years of experience as a journeyman plumber in a commercial/ educational environment.
- A valid Master Plumbing License (Preferred in Albany, Schenectady, or Troy) is required.
- A valid New York State driver’s license is required.
- Must obtain proficient knowledge in water distribution and waste water disposal in both commercial and residential applications.
- Strong understanding of the relevant building codes, policies, and procedures pertaining to the installation and maintenance of equipment is required.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics, basic computer skills, and knowledge of LOTO procedures.
- Must posses effective decisional, negotiating, team building, and leadership/mentoring skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and listening skills.
Requirements:
- The qualified candidate will possess the knowledge, the skills, and the ability to complete the necessary skills to achieve organizational objectives through being both ethical and beneficial, while working in a diverse educational environment.
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures and associate equipment used to maintain flow and drainage of water, air, and other gas systems in both commercial and residential applications.
