The University of Nebraska at Kearney Facilities Management & Planning is seeking a Custodian Supervisor.
Brief Summary of Job Description
Under the direction of the Custodial Manager, this position coordinates and supervises all aspects of daily and periodic cleaning in student housing, academic buildings and sports facilities to include; inspection of university living areas to ensure the cleanliness; supervises lead custodians & custodians; determines appropriate staffing levels required for work projects; meet with occupants to monitor/ensure standards of cleanliness.
Job Duties
Supervises the Essential Functions of custodial activities of assigned buildings, along with providing training in the following areas based on department established standards;
Inspects all assigned areas daily to ensure work is being carried out properly and orderly
Prepares and assigns work schedules and TMA work orders
Maintains personnel, time:
Prepares & evaluate time records to ensure staffing needs & day to day operational needs Vacation/Sick time approval
Weekly/Biweekly timesheets for payroll and TMA
Designates shift and work area assignments for custodial leads, custodians, student works and temps
Issues Custodial tools, equipment, supplies and key distribution
Conducts training programs; Orientation, Safety and Hands On
Enforcement of work and/or safety standards
Implements new procedures & polices
Evaluates performance of custodial personnel;
Prepares and submits disciplinary action and incident reports
Counsels custodial leads & custodians
Monthly evaluations for probationary employees
Annual employee evaluations
Assist in hiring qualified employees;
Participate in interview process & making recommendations
Maintains records and correspondence;
Submits purchase requisitions for supplies & equipment
Maintain supply inventory and equipment accounts for assigned buildings
Establishes and monitors working relationships with building supervisors, administrators as required for building cleaning projects
Coordinates various cleaning projects; receives equipment, uniforms and supplies
Provides continuity of custodial services under emergency conditions or unique circumstances by performing custodial duties directly related to the emergency conditions or as the situation dictates
Coordinates and assigns custodial staff to Snow Removal from entrances, steps & sidewalks within 15 feet of a building using shovel/snow blower & dispersing salt
Contributes to the overall success of the assigned department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned
